There are a total of seven Zoom live sessions in our program, and one each week on Sunday and two additional sessions during the first week.
The Zoom sessions serve as an overview and broad introduction of the topic of the week. The goal of these sessions is to give attendees a glimpse of a particular field/topic in advanced mathematics.
More theory and problem-solving will be covered throughout the week in the reading groups.
All the live sessions cover different material and are independent of one another. Students are not required to attend all these sessions. We encourage students to attend all three Zoom sessions in the first week, and pick the ones you are interested in the following weeks.
Everyone eligible for the GirlsxMRO program is welcome to attend our Zoom live sessions whether or not you have the recommended mathematical background. (However, if you do have the background, you will understand the material more thoroughly.)
After each Zoom live session, we will give out optional problem sets for students to think about afterwards. There will be office hours on Thursdays for students to ask questions about the problem sets or just chat with the mentors!

During office hours, mentors will be available to talk on a Zoom call. This is your chance to ask any question you have on the materials covered during the Zoom live sessions or ask for hints on the optional problem sets. This is also your chance to chat with us! We are here to answer any questions you have regarding the GirlsxMRO program or math in general. We are more than happy to share with you our experiences!
Office hours are independent from the reading groups. If you have a question on materials from a reading group, you should ask during the reading group meetings or reach out to your mentor.
