Live Sessions
Description
There are a total of seven live Zoom sessions in the GirlsxMRO program, with one each week on Sunday and two additional Crash Course sessions during the first week.
These Zoom sessions serve as an overview and broad introduction of the topic of the week. The goal of these sessions is to give attendees a glimpse of the particular field/topic in advanced mathematics of that week.
More theory and problem-solving is covered throughout the week in the reading groups.
All the live sessions cover different material and are independent of one another. We encourage students to attend all three Zoom sessions in the first week and then pick the ones they are interested in the following weeks.
Everyone eligible for the GirlsxMRO program is welcome to attend our Zoom lectures even if they do not have all of the recommended mathematical background, and we will make these sessions as accessible as possible.
After each live Zoom session, we release optional problem sets for students to think about and work on afterwards. There are office hours on Mondays for students to ask questions about the problem sets, collaborate, and chat with the mentors!

Office Hours
During office hours, mentors are available to talk on a Zoom call. This is a chance to ask any question on the materials covered during the live Zoom sessions, ask for hints on the optional problem sets, or collaborate with other students on the problems. This is also an opportunity to chat with us mentors! We are happy to answer any questions regarding the GirlsxMRO program or math in general as well as share our experiences in math!
Note that office hours are independent from the reading groups. Questions on materials for a reading group will be answered during the reading group meetings.
In 2022, office hours happened every Monday from 6/27/22 to 7/11/22 from 4:00-5:00 PM PT/7:00-8:00 PM ET.
